Step 1: The surgeon will numb your mouth with local anesthesia so you feel no pain or discomfort during your procedure. Sedation options may also be offered to alleviate anxiety and fear so you can have a relaxing, tranquil treatment.
Step 2: The surgeon will make an incision in your gum to gain access to the bone where the implant will be placed.
Step 3: They will then drill a hole in your bone, insert the implant, and secure it in place.
The implant will be covered with a temporary cap during the 4 to 6-month recovery period required for fusion with the bone system. Additionally, the incision will be stitched to speed up healing.
Your gum may be sore a day or two after surgery. You can take OTC medication to ease your discomfort. Within a few days, you should be good to go until the next phase of your treatment. Once the implant has fused with your jawbone, You will return to our practice, where we will attach an abutment and restoration to finalize your procedure.
